Lilla Harrie Valskvarn

Summary English

SWEDEN’S OLDEST MILL

Lilla Harrie Valskvarn has been milling flour since 1509. Every year we use 120,000 tonnes of wheat and rye from the flat arable land of Skåneslätten and Västgötaslätten in southern Sweden in our two mills at Lilla Harrie and Västra Frölunda. They account for a quarter of Swedish consumption of bakery flour.

LOCAL INGREDIENTS FROM CONTRACTED FARMERS

We use local ingredients from the fields that surround our mills and have close relationships with local farmers. Many of these farms have been supplying the mills for generations and are only a few kilometres away. We believe in sustainable agriculture and demand high standards from our contracted growers. This means we have checks in place on the grain we receive and can guarantee that the flour we produce is absolutely top quality. We care every step of the way and know exactly which field the flour for which loaf came from.

Our master millers produce a flour mix that is precisely adapted to the production method and the properties of the bread. And we can guarantee the same, reliable quality every time. It’s not just flour, it’s 500 years of experience and expertise. Baked in.
